What is Power Flushing

Power Flushing is a process by which heating systems are cleansed from debris (magnetite sludge) by using chemicals in conjunction with a Power Flushing pump. We connect our Power Flush machine and filter to your central heating system pipe work. Then flush the whole system without removing any additional radiators. The process makes no mess and causes minimal disturbance to the home. At the end of the Power Flushing process, the system contains fresh clean water.

Powerflushing clears any lime-scale, dirt, corrosion and rusting from your radiators, boiler and whole central heating system. Increase your central heating system life by a regular radiator and boiler de-scaling.

Benefits of Power Flushing

By installing a powered flow cleansing unit on to your heating system and cleansing all pipe work, boiler and each radiator individually this will keep your central heating system in peak performance.

What are the benefits of a Power Flush?

  • Reduced fuel bill (up to 25%)
  • Improved central heating efficiency
  • Remove magnetite sludge
  • Cleans the whole system, including under floor pipe work
  • Increases pump life
  • Quicker heat up times
  • Reduces boiler noise
  • Stops hydrogen gases from building up, which reduces the risk of radiator corrosion

Does my central heating system need a Power Flush?

If your central heating system has any of the following symptoms, it probably needs a POWER FLUSH:

  • Radiator water is dirty
  • System is slow to heat up
  • Radiators need frequent bleeding
  • Boiler failure or lockout
  • Boiler noise
  • Pump failure
  • Noisy Pump
  • Cold spots on radiators
  • Some radiators not working at all
  • Blocked radiators
  • Pinhole leaks from radiators

These problems are result of inertial corrosion scale and magnetite sludge forming within your central heating system. Power Flushing is the most effective way of giving your system a new lease of life and offers good value for money, compared with the alternative re-piping of system and replacement of radiators, this is obviously far more costly and intrusive than a Powerflush

Power Flush FAQ’s (Frequently Asked Questions)

We are often asked by customers many questions about Powerflushing, as they have heard of certain problems with Power Flushing. The purpose of this FAQ, is to hopefully clear up any queries that you may have about this process

  • I have 8mm pipework feeding my radiators, I have been told that I cannot have a Power Flush, is this correct?

No, our Power Flushing machine can operate and cleanse 8mm pipework. That said, the cleansing is not AS effective as it is on a system with 15mm pipework (to the radiators)

  • I have been told that Power Flushing can cause my radiators to leak, is this true?

Technically, yes; however this is extremely unlikely, we have carried out hundreds of Power Flush procedures over the years and only ever had to replace one radiator. The reason there is a chance of leaks, is that old pin-holes and leaks already on a radiator which has previously sealed itself by corroding over the weakness, are exposed as the Power Flusher washes away the rust that had previously sealed the leak. Our advice would be to still have a Power Flush carried out, especially if all of your radiators look in good condition, we would only express caution if the radiators all have excessive surface rusting and are in poor condition, in which case we would suggest that you contact us to draw up an individual plan of action for your heating system. It is worth noting however, that if we find any radiators, valves or pipework that develop leaks during Power Flush, the price of the Power Flush does not include rectification of leaks, this is charged additionally

  • I have a one-pipe heating system can a Power Flush be carried out to my system?

answer tbc

  • My system has some twin entry radiator valves, can you still Powerflush my system?
Water will always find its easiest route, if we were to flush a system with these valves, the radiators would not be cleaned effectively, as the water would not flow through the radiator properly.
Our recommendation is to remove the twin entry valve and install valves at both ends of the radiator and then carry out a Powerflush. If you would like to discuss this further or would like a price to replace twin entry valves on your system please call on 01983 866650
